How the calculation works
At expiration, a call is worth max(stock price − strike, 0), and a put is worth max(strike − stock price, 0). Each standard option contract represents 100 shares. Buy legs add intrinsic value; sell legs subtract it. The calculator deducts the net entry cost and the entry fees you specify. Shares use the entered per-share cost and share quantity.
Maximum profit, maximum loss and breakevens are calculated across all non-negative stock prices, including beyond the plotted range. The reference stock price controls chart ranges and percentage scenarios; it does not change the option payoff. All option legs are modeled at one shared expiration.
This is an expiration payoff model, not a forecast or a live quote. It excludes pre-expiration time value, implied volatility, dividends, financing, taxes, exit fees, slippage and margin requirements. Short American-style options may be assigned early; a spread’s theoretical expiration loss does not capture every execution or assignment risk. Adjusted contracts and different-expiry strategies are not supported.
