Palantir earnings ahead: can AI sales growth justify its steep valuation?
Palantir reports after close on November 2. Its fast-growing U.S. business and new partnerships raise the growth opportunity, while a high valuation makes the sales outlook, contract conversion and profit quality especially important.

1) When does Palantir report, and what is expected?
Palantir has confirmed that it will release results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 after close on November 2, 2026. The company announced the date on October 12. As of October 29, the public consensus is about $2.18 billion in revenue and $0.4076 in profit per share, or about $0.41 when rounded. These are analyst expectations, not reported results. Management’s previous revenue outlook was $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion, so the market is already looking for slightly more than that range.
2) What would show that growth is becoming durable?
The central question is whether strong U.S. customer demand keeps turning into revenue without a comparable rise in delivery costs. Watch commercial sales growth, expansion by existing customers and the next annual outlook. At the August report, management raised its full-year revenue range to $8.150 billion–$8.158 billion from $7.650 billion–$7.662 billion. Another strong quarter needs to be considered alongside what management now expects for the remaining business, rather than treated as a guarantee that the same pace continues.
3) What changed in the partnership pipeline?
On October 19, Palantir and Knox announced a partnership focused on secure software delivery to U.S. government customers. It is intended to make deployment in regulated federal environments faster and easier. No quantified revenue contribution was disclosed in that announcement. An October 1 partnership with Armada also targets AI systems that customers can run on infrastructure they control. These initiatives could broaden the routes to customers. The earnings test is whether deployment opportunities become paying usage and revenue; an announced partnership is not the same as recognized sales.
4) Why can the stock react differently to two earnings beats?
Palantir exceeded the dated profit and revenue forecasts in both of its latest completed quarters. Yet the stock fell about 6.9% from the May 4 pre-release close to the May 5 close, then rose about 29.5% from the August 3 pre-release close to the August 4 close. At the October 28 close, the stock traded at about 168 times trailing reported profit per share and 76.8 times trailing sales. Those ratios use results through June 30, 2026. A high valuation makes the future growth outlook important even when the current quarter exceeds forecasts.
5) What do the completed charts show?
The October 28 regular close of $196.81 was just below its 20-day price average of $197.16 and above its 50-day average of $186.28. The momentum indicator RSI was about 53.9 on a 0–100 scale. ATR, a measure of typical daily price range, was about $7.69. These describe the completed trading trend before earnings. They do not predict the size or direction of the earnings reaction, and a gap can move the price past nearby chart references.
6) How the business makes money
Palantir sells software that helps government agencies and businesses connect data, analyze it and act on it. Its Artificial Intelligence Platform links AI models with customer data and operations. Revenue depends on winning customers, deploying the software and expanding its use within organizations over time.
7) What to watch
Watch U.S. commercial growth, government demand, revenue from existing customers and the pace at which contracts become recognized sales. The next full-year outlook and cash generation will help show whether growth can keep supporting the valuation. Compare reported profit with adjusted figures and changes in the share count.
8) Recently reported peers
ServiceNow reported on October 28, 2026. Its revenue rose 20.5% to $4.106 billion, while adjusted profit per share was $1.00 versus a $1.02 forecast. It raised its annual subscription-sales outlook, but forecast slower growth in contracted revenue due over the next year. ServiceNow fell about 15.3% in the verified October 28 after-close comparison shown in the image. That is an extended-hours observation, not a completed next-session return. It offers a useful enterprise-software comparison: AI demand and higher annual guidance can still leave investors focused on future contract growth. Palantir has a different mix of commercial and government customers.
9) Risks into the report
Customers can delay projects, reduce spending or terminate some contracts. Government demand depends on budgets and procurement decisions, while commercial deployments can take time and require support. Competition, data-security failures and employee share compensation can affect value per share. The high valuation magnifies the impact of slower growth or weaker guidance.
