1) What is moving before open?

Revvity’s earnings and higher profit outlook stood out against declines in Apple and Palantir. The S&P 500’s SPY fund was down about 0.2%, while the Nasdaq-focused QQQ fund was up about 0.1% before open. That split suggests investors are weighing individual company developments rather than moving every technology stock in the same direction. 2) Why did Revvity and Bloom Energy stand out?

Revvity’s November 3 earnings release lifted its full-year adjusted profit-per-share outlook to $5.40–$5.45 from $5.30–$5.40. Both business segments improved operating margins. The guidance excludes the China diagnostics business it has agreed to sell, so it should not be compared directly with sales that still include that business. Bloom Energy’s November 2 announcement with California Resources concerns potential power generation paired with carbon capture. The companies will evaluate at least one gigawatt of projects in California. The agreement is nonbinding; potential projects still require firm contracts, investment decisions and approvals. The opportunity is possible future demand, not booked revenue.

3) What changed for Apple and Palantir?

Apple reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion and GAAP profit per share of $2.10 after close on November 2. Its subsequent holiday outlook pointed to record revenue but slower growth, lower margins and continued shortages of some products. Higher memory costs matter because stronger sales do not automatically produce the same pace of profit growth. Palantir’s November 2 results showed $2.313 billion in quarterly revenue and $1.205 billion of operating cash flow. It raised full-year revenue guidance to $8.530–$8.534 billion. Its shares nevertheless fell before open. Strong reported growth and the market’s valuation of that growth are separate questions; the next useful checks are delivery against guidance and continued cash generation.

4) What are the next decisions to watch?

The September job openings report is scheduled for November 3 during trading. Job openings, hiring and quits help show whether demand for workers is strengthening or cooling. A stronger labor market can support spending while also complicating the inflation and interest-rate outlook. AMD has confirmed that it will report fiscal third-quarter earnings after close on November 3. Its revenue outlook, profit margins and commentary on AI demand could influence chip stocks. Neither the economic release nor the earnings report guarantees a particular market direction.
